Where's Day 1 & 2 you ask? Why am I numbering my days? I'll tell you why:
#1: I recently started a new weight training/loss type-thing...I'll get into it more here in a second or 5...
#2: I just decided to start blogging about this about 10 minutes ago, while I'm waiting for a computer to finish installing Windows updates and trying to get it to work with a POS software called SAM that we use in our Public Libraries for patrons to logon with. Now, whether I KEEP blogging with it is a different story...it's not often anymore I seem to find much to blog about, nor have the time to do it...I started a Twitter, but don't use it much, either, though since Blogger keeps losing my information for me to blog from my phone when I haven't for a few months at a time, it's just easier to Twitter when I get a chance...
Anyways, on to the point: I purchased My Weight Loss Coach for the Gameboy DS.
"But why?" you ask? Well, let's put it in a bit of a summary:
I'm overweight.
I've fairly sedentary - I work on computers and I game a lot - mainly World of Warcraft
I like gadgets.
I like my Gameboy.
I have a lot of back and hip problems and pains.
I really need to start something to lose weight.
So, I've been starting with small things - mainly drinking more water. But I felt a needed a bigger push. Now, I'd seen some reviews about this "game" online and kinda thought, you know, why not give it a go? I'm sure the $40 could have been better spent elsewhere, but really, what have I to lose?
So far, I'm keeping up with it, the pedometer is kinda cool - I never realized I walked so many steps in one day, and the challenges are nice and they're minor, so it's like you're taking baby steps to change your life, so they're not real noticable or drastic - like sitting at the computer one day, and then going on a 10 mile run the next day when you've never done it before - I know that's a bit extreme, but for someone with back problems, that's kinda what it'd be like.
So, it's been fairly simple so far - I had to do 10 lunges the other night and 5 situps yesterday. Oh, I have balance problems, too, so the lunges were tricky. Other things were like, put the salt shaker in the cupboard for 24 hours and don't touch it; another was don't eat any skin on any chicken. Really simple stuff, things you don't really think about. That's just some of the Challenges related to food. Others are things like "Don't use any elevators or escalators that day" or "Walk for 30 minutes with your back perfectly straight." I did that last one yesterday while I was in Walmart picking up some groceries - I swear people kept looking at me funny - not use to seeing a fat girl w/ out the usual hunched shoulders, I guess...or I just had something on my shirt, one of the two. I had been dealing with a lot of dusty computers that day.
I haven't, however, started it today because I had to get up before the buttcrack of dawn and dress in the dark and head in to work to work on some computers before patrons came in. But I figure when I get a free moment this afternoon, I'll get my "instructions" for the day.
So far, it's weird - I don't know if I'm being on my best behaviour or I've hit one of those times of the year when I seem to just not eat much - the last two days my energy expendency has been more than my food intake, and I'm really just not that hungry right now. So maybe, just maybe, I'll lose some weight sometime soon...The goal, in the "game" is 5 pounds for the month. That's hard for me to believe, but then, after the past two days of little things, maybe it's not so hard to believe. Goodness knows I need something to start happening.
Here's to hoping...
